About Us
We are a manufacturing company committed to utilizing the natural, renewable resource - Cork - as our basic engineering material. We specialize in producing a variety of compounds, using various grades and particle sizes of granulated cork. Our cork compounds are unique and our formulations are non-destructive to the anatomy of the closed-cell structure of cork, preserving its intrinsic properties. Our binders are non-invasive and do not "rubberize" the cork. The resulting finished products are cork fillers that yield the essential properties of Cork.
Our primary product is BioFlex Cork Shoe Bottom Filler, universally recognized as the best way to fill the bottom cavity between the insole and outsole of high quality, Goodyear Welt Footwear. Our Automatic Bottom Filling Machine speeds the filling process, completely injecting BioFlex into all the nooks & crannies of the bottom cavity. We also have formulations that are excellent for filling smaller gaps and cavities in other types of footwear construction. Other product areas include Shoe Repair, Craft, Hobby, anywhere there’s a cavity or gap to be filled!
Why Cork?
If an inventor were to sit at the proverbial drawing board and try to design the perfect ingredient as the basis for a superb material to persist between the insole and the outsole of your footwear, several desirable qualities would be required: flexible; water-resistant; light weight; insulative; shock-absorbing; durable; and, above all, comfortable to walk in and stand on. It would need to be easily obtained, affordable and environmentally friendly. A tall order! Even if it were possible to invent such a “man-made” material, the inventor would have wasted much time and effort, because "Mother Nature" has already done the job... Her renewable, recyclable, readily available, miracle resource that grows on trees... Cork!
Why BioFlex?
Fortunately our engineers already know all about the amazing properties of Cork. Our challenge was to incorporate all the magnificent attributes of Cork into an injectable filler that seals and fills the entire bottom cavity, thus eliminating the need to inventory many sizes of die-cut foam pieces and the associated waste scraps going to landfill. Our goal was to embody elements that would function as cushioning and guiding agents of the individual’s gait, conforming to the shape and size of the wearer's foot, thus creating anatomically correct footbeds to cradle your feet. Cork, with 50% of its volume consisting of air locked up in a closed cellular structure, integrated with our unique Comfort Binder System, allows us to realize this goal.
